Planning to repair…
Before we arrive, you will need to find a ‘donor’ piece of carpet. Remnants are often leftover from the original installation. You might have extra stored for just this occasion! Check your garage, attic, closets or basement for leftover pieces.
If you couldn’t find any extra laying around, you may be able to source a new remnant from a flooring store. You will need the brand name, color, and style name. Unfortunately, this can be difficult depending on the age of your carpet and availability from the manufacturer. Further, we find that sometimes the carpet color can vary due to the dye lot.
If you are unable to find a leftover remnant or buy it from your local flooring store, we might need to take it from hidden areas in the house. Hidden areas may include some of the locations below:
Closet
Water Heater Room
Under Staircase
Under-bed, desk or heavy piece of furniture that will most likely never be moved
